National Highways Authorities of India (NHAI) has appointed ULCCS Kasaragod Expressway Pvt Ltd, as the Concessionaire for the design and built of the 39 Km Six Laning of Thalapady to Chengala section of NH-17 (New NH-66) from Ch. 17+200 (existing km 17+200) to Ch. 56+200 (existing Km 57+200) in the State of Kerala on Hybrid Annuity Mode under Bharatmala Pariyojna.
The Concessionaire has appointed M/s Louis Berger Consulting Pvt. Ltd (A WSP Company), to carry out the Detailed Engineering Design Consultancy Services for the aforesaid work in accordance with the Conditions of concession agreement.
The current project scope starts from km 17+200 (Thalapady) to km 56+200 (Chengala). The project includes development of 39.00 Km of six lanes with service roads on LHS and RHS.
The Scope includes construction of Structures such as 4 Major Bridges Uppala (Ch 25+408), Shiriya (Ch 35+223), Kumbala (Ch 37+612) and Mogral (Ch 41+990), 4 Minor Bridges (Ch 20+856, 23+185, 30+941, 46+854), A Flyover having 1.160 Km length (Ch 48+770), 9 VUPs and 83 cross Drainage Box Culverts.
The duration of the project is 910 days from the appointed date. The operation and maintenance period of the project is 15 years. The preliminary critical activities include felling of trees, shifting of utilities such as KSEB and KWA. For the ease of Construction, the total project length is divided into 4 reaches:
Reach 1 Ch 17+200 till Ch 26+900 9.700 Km
Reach 2 Ch 26+900 till Ch 36+700 9.800 Km
Reach 3 Ch 36+700 till Ch 46+400 9.700 Km
Reach 4 Ch 46+400 till Ch 56+200 9.800 Km
